It is was the desire of Jesus to teach the disciples on how to come before the eyes of God but had to wait until they are ready themselves.

We ourselves being a prayer ministry have seen how Christians of goodwill have been taught wrongly on how to face God and vow before Him.

Prayer is a taught activity, no one is born knowing how to pray, we have learn and the best teacher to teach us how to pray is Jesus Christ, since himself confessed that he cannot do anything a part from what he sees the Father doing...So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.(John 5:19)

That can only happen by spending our time in the presence of God the same way Jesus did.

Jesus is life 3 and half years ministry centered around prayer and whenever he was in prayer something magnificent will happen, that is why the disciples got curious and asked him to teach them how to pray so that they too can experience the glory of God in their lives.

Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples(Luke 11:1)

The Greek word translated to teach is 'didasko' which has a broader meaning such as direct,admonish..

In other words the disciples already knew how to pray but wrongly because they were not getting the results and that is why they came to Jesus to correct them and help them know how to pray correctly.

And what followed is the prayer that Jesus taught the disciples which we have come to call Lord's prayer...Here is the prayer that Jesus taught.

And he said to them, “When you pray, say:

“Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
3 Give us each day our daily bread,
4 and forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation
